This is the ultimate diet book that actually explains, scientifically why it works and why other diets don’t work. It is not just for losing weight, it is about changing your life, your health and your outlook. The claims in the book seem quite amazing but I can report that they are all true – I started the diet post Christmas/New Year feeling fat and fed-up – I lost 10lbs in 5 weeks, never felt hungry, I slept better, had more energy, my skin improved dramatically, I haven’t put the weight back on and I still feel amazing. I would recommend this to anyone as it is easy to follow, the recipes are delicious and easy to make and of course, it works!

I bought this book in desperation for my partner after we left left slimming world as she had put on weight ! Mood swings stopped almost overnight , weight loss slow and steady(5lb in 3 weeks), more energy . The recipes are absolutely delicious . The only complaint I have is the book refers you to his web site to access updated GL lists – which you have to pay for . However we bought two other GL diet books at the same time – this is the “bible” we keep returning to again and again for recipes.

But don’t be fooled; this is not a DIET. That’s just the point.
It has been proven over and over that diets can be unhealthy – and even life-threatening. At the very least, dieting makes us severly unhappy.
Patrick Holford brings us a new lifestyle and a new way of eating which is not a painfully prescriptive diet and is easy enough to adopt for the rest of our lives.
The success of this method lies in that the very reason why certain foods make us fat or tired and why others don’t is explained to us in detail, yet in simple layman’s terms. You simply need to read the book front to back once to become a more conscious eater for the rest of your life.
The method also lends itself to adaptation and interpretation. Once you understand the simple principles, you can go on and create your own mealplans without having to look up ‘scores’ or weigh things to the gram. You can apply the method to the letter for a dedicated weightloss regime, or simply make the idea part of your daily life when and where it suits you to keep yourself in check.
All principles are completely safe for all ages, and therefore can be applied to family meal plans.
Of course, this is not only an eating plan. Patrick Holford acknowledges and stresses the importance of exercise and offers an entirely holistic approach to weightloss.
You will never need another diet book again; in fact, you will never need to diet again!

If you only ever buy one book on healthy eating, then buy this book. All the information you will ever need about food, diets, healthy eating etc is within the covers of this brilliant book. If you get the chance to hear Patrick Holford speak at one of his seminars or workshops you will be totally inspired. Buy this book and be healthy and be slimmer. You will be introduced to the concept of Glycemic Load and how to control your blood sugar level and how that affects your appetite, your weight and your life. It’s such a simple idea to understand and is the most advanced scientific thinking there is on appetite and weight control. Yes, this is healthy eating which has been proved by scientists to work!! It’s not a faddy diet, that may or not may work. It really does work.

I decided that i needed to get back to basics to get my healthy eating back on track. I always work out 4-5 times a week but i was no longer feeling that this alone was working to keep me in shape.. I did the month eating plan and i lost 10 lbs! I have kept this off and maintain many of the principles I got from the text. I would recomend this for anyone:)
