I want to be fair to this diet because i believe it could work for some people.
The first thing most people will want to know is: Does it make you lose weight? And the answer is a definite Yes, for myself and my husband.
The main problem i had with the diet, is that it caused painful acid build up in my joints, despite the fact that i ate allot of veg and drank plenty of water. I am fairly sure that the diet caused acidosis, and so is not for me. I think that there are other people who would be ok on this diet, but i’m not one of them. I may well be one of those people who is meat intolerant.
As for my husband he had a huge healing crisis in the first 2 days. I mean he was really, really, sick. I believe the main problem was lack of caffeine combined with the detox of everything at once. I would suggest for people who are determined to try this diet to ween themselves of caffeine before starting the Phase one detox. He is not going to continue with the diet, because he didn’t enjoy it as compared to other diets, but he is making lifestyle changes based on his experiences eg drinking less coffee, no processed foods, etc
What this diet and book did do in a positive sense, is highlight the foods i crave (wheat and sugar). It clarified how candida, food intolerance and hypoglycemia affect my life by causing these cravings. I think this is very important for myself and others to take on board. We are not weak willed when we give in, we are ill, and there is a cure. I think that this is a very important message and i commend the author for publishing this.
Although the diet was not healthy for ‘me’ i learnt allot, it allowed me to take control of my eating and i will be applying some of its principles in the future.
I do not regret buying this book, but i am moving on to try a PH diet.

Finally a book for people who hate to diet! (Like me!) If you are serious about wanting to lose weight, this is the book for you. However, if you are serious about wanting to lose weight and do it in an easier way, this is the book for you. Inside I found many practical tips that really got me thru the tough times. I also enjoyed the fact that it wasn’t overly complicated. A must read, along with Goodbye, Fatty! Hello, Skinny! How I Lost Weight And Still Ate The Foods I Loved-Without Dieting, which was also an easier way to lose weight without going nuts. Both, combined, have given me tremendous results.

Admittedly, I got this book because of the cute title. Well, so glad I did. Inside I found a great plan that really does work–if you follow it diligently. It’s not hard to do but it will entail some willpower, which is the hardest part of doing anything. The authors really know what they’re talking about as they, themselves, have gone through the whole many diet disasters familar to most of us. Overall, it’s a fantastic plan and also a good read. Don’t pass it up. Another that I found most useful, also, was Goodbye, Fatty! Hello, Skinny! How I Lost Weight And Still Ate The Foods I Loved-Without Dieting.

I received my copy of this book 5 weeks ago and found it full of good sense. I have been following this way of eating for 4 weeks and have lost 12.5lbs and 12.5″ too. My shape has totally changed. I wish I had found it earlier

I orginally had this book in 2005 and started on the diet.
Everything is set out and explained in a detail and there are lots of recipes too!
Now the saying you never see a fat Postman is mainly true but due to having an illness I wasn`t able to work and piled on the pounds,I was the typical bloke,eating loads of sandwiches,chocolate biccys and fast food,nearly every night it was either chips or mashed potatoes with whatever and hardly any veg,so when my wife bought this book and said it would be better if we both did it I was horrified!
We started the diet,I thought I`d be starving by day one but I NEVER feel hungry now,before I was always snacking or `treating` myself with a sweetie usually a doughnut or biscuit now I don`t even bother with chocolate,my two teenage daughters have loads of it in the fridge and I`m not even tempted!
I appreciate my food alot more now and for people who say it`s not healthy eating,I`ve never eaten as much vegetables as what I do now,also I enjoy fish in the morning now as well for breakfast..much more healthier than Tony the Tiger or new Honey nut cardboard pap.
Have I lost weight?….I was 15st 7lbs back then I`m now 12st which I consider my ideal weight,did it take loads of willpower?…NO,I NEVER felt hungry infact I didn`t even think I was on a diet,if I can lose weight anybody can.

I cannot commend this book enough. In September of last year I tried the previous revision of this book. It was my first attempt at dieting as I, like most people, loved my food but as I was now in my thirties I could no longer eat anything I wanted without taking exercise and feel no effect. My waistline had grown steadily from a loose 32″ to a really tight 34″ (effectively 3 sizes) within around a 3 year period and I didn’t want to go up another waist size and start making excuses about my double chin.
I got some good scales and borrowed the book from a friend who said it would work as it did for him. I weighed 14 stone at the end of September. The next day I stocked up on the food I needed and commenced my diet. I noticed daily waitloss instantly and by the middle of November I weighed 12st 5lbs. I had a couple of business trips away in between these times and didn’t stay on the diet every day. But that’s the beauty of this because you don’t have to punish yourself as it’s effectively a 24hr diet.
You can have a carb fix and be bad some days if you want and the next couple of days be good and you’ll still notice the difference. And by being good I don’t mean eat cardboard and lettuce leaves, you can have cream of chicken soup for lunch, big juicy steaks for supper and the best bit, bacon and fried eggs for breakfast. All this and I could finally get into those jeans and that shirt that I couldn’t look good in before and I felt fantastic. The added bonus here is that I could go out at night with friends regularly and still have alcohol (wine or spirits) and have a great time with them whilst still losing weight.
I hadn’t been watching what I’ve been eating since last November and steadily gained weight from eating all those carbs again and weighed in at 13st 8lbs on Monday last week so I decided to give the new book a go together with the cookbook. I have really gotten into it again and cut out most of the carbs completely. I weighed myself this morning and I’m under the 13st mark! 12st 13.4lbs. I’ve lost more than 8 lbs in less than 7 days. I knew this would work again but I was truly astonished at the speed of the weight loss this time around and I can go another couple of weeks on this and hopefully reach my target of 12st.
Get this book and it will work for you. You have to abstain sometimes and I have virtually no willpower, but believe me, once you see the results you won’t mind and it’ll all be worth it. It’s the best thing for under a tenner I have ever bought.

I have used this programe since June last year and have lost three stone. I have changed my way of eating, its not a diet there are no restrictions and for the first time in my life I have control of my food and not the other way round.
Most of us eat food without thinking, maybe as a reward, to abate stress, when bored, when happy, when sad, when watching the tv etc whatever your reason this system breaks the habit.
I enjoy my food now more than ever, enjoy the taste more and have kept my weight off for nine months without thinking or depriving myself of anything. Yes I have lost weight before but could never get that I will diet tomorrow thought out of my head or that chocolate was naughty I could never get past the guilt of enjoying food and feeling embarassed by my size and what everyone must think of me being so fat that I will start tomorrow after a bad day turned into a massive binge. I have lost and gained more back with every “diet” I have followed.
I am not that person anymore, I am the person who I should have always been slimmer and in control with a confidence that has no limits.
My advice would be try it whats the worst that can happen to you?

I loved the idea of listening to a CD that would hypnotize me into losing weight because somehow I still believed that there was a cheater, short-cut way to lose weight. I didn’t really believe that it would work and assumed that this would be money thrown away. Well, guess what? This is day 16 and I have lost 4 kilos. That is almost 9 pounds and I swear it was without effort. The book is a quick read, intelligent and to the point, but the CD that is included with it is even better. Everyone laughed at me when I told them what I was up to, including my husband who complained when I played it before I went to sleep, but no one is laughing now and they all want to borrow it. No chance! Buy your own! What it does is makes you want to drink water, do exercise (willingly!) and convince you that you can stop eating when you feel full and that you will feel satisfied with less. The hidden benefits are that it makes you feel wonderful, telling you what a great person you are and the relaxation bit is worth buying alone. My only problem is how to buy this as a present for people who might be insulted by the title of the book “I can make you slim”. It’s not like buying a novel for a birthday, is it.

I bought this book a week ago and couldn’t put it down till I finished it……I read it through without skipping to the ‘miracle bit’ that I ususally search for in diet books because there isn’t one- ( I must have read and tried most of the diet books that have been published over the last 20 years-this is not a diet book- it is a life changing book that provides a well written, accessible, intelligent approach to the way we eat. It made so much sense-explaining both the emotional, environmental and physical aspects of our eating patterns providing clear guidelines for ‘demon foods’ to avoid. I have already started to put the guidelines to practice and am feeling positive and energised and looking forward to a new refined body shape that I’ll keep for life and not for a fortnight!

I bought this book exactly a week ago, read it in one day and I’ve not looked back. After becoming pregnant with my son 6 years ago, I have struggled with my weight and attempted many diets to no avail. I really believed that I was incapable of ever losing weight and that I was destined to remain forever 5 stones heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight. For 6 years I had been constantly snacking, finishing off my kids’ meals and controlled by cravings for bread, cheese and crisps. Marisa’s book is amazing – on reading it I knew my life had changed and already felt happier and more energised than I had done in years. One week on, I remain happy and energised and I am a stone lighter, having shed 4 inches from my waist alone! Moreover, I have not for one second since reading the book craved bread, cheese, crisps or any other nasties and cannot even contemplate ever eating them again! My portion sizes have decreased dramatically and I am leaving food (unheard of a week ago)! I know it’s going to be a long journey, but I have no doubt at all that I will shed those remaining 4 stones and even more! I have told my husband that we will be going on a summer holiday this year, something we have not done in 6 years because I could not face getting in a bikini! I really, truly believed I was a hopeless case, so if this book has worked for me it really will work for anyone. If your weight is making you miserable, then I urge you to buy this book. I am so, so grateful to have read it.
****UPDATE**** I’d just like to tell everyone that another 2 weeks on, I’ve shed another stone! I’m wearing trousers today that I couldn’t even squeeze into a few weeks ago, but they are baggy now on my thighs! I am sooooooo happy! I know my weight-shifting is pretty dramatic, and I wouldn’t expect everyone to shed that amount that quickly, but my eating habits were really, really bad beforehand – looking back on it I’m surprised I wasn’t heftier than I was. I can’t believe how unkind I was being to my body. But I am eating so well now – I eat when my body needs nutrition, no more, no less. I swear I’m not starving myself – I always eat whenever my body needs to. I’m still not wanting cheese, bread, crisps, chocolate… My kids actually bought me some chocs for mothers’ day, so I felt obliged to have one – I so didn’t enjoy it and I put the box in the cupboard and it’s stayed there untouched ever since. I know they will sit there until they pass their sell-by date, then straight in the bin (sorry kids)! I swear, this book is an absolute god-send – it’s written in such a lovely, easy to read, accessible style, it’s not judgmental or dictatorial in any way, you believe and trust that Marisa is on your side, she shows that she understands what you’ve been through and genuinely wants you to be happy with your body, to look after it. She makes it so easy, and it IS easy, I promise (and this is coming from me, someone who thought that she was incapable of ever banishing her terrible eating habits). I know I sound a bit evangelical, but I AM evangelical about this book – it is so life-changing in the loveliest possible way.
****UPDATE**** 28.3.09 It’s just over a year since I read Marisa’s book, apologies for not updating for such a huge length of time. The reason for not updating, I guess, is that what you learn from Marisa’s book with time just becomes “you” so you no longer feel the need to harp on about how great it is. But I shed my 5 stone (easily), feel absolutely fantastic, far better than I did before I gained all the weight – because now I understand what it’s all about. The book turned my life around, completely. What I think is fundamental is that you 100% want to believe that this book can make you succeed in shedding excess weight. If you read the book believing that it will help, then it will. The key is don’t question it, I promise you that if you just read and believe it works. XXX
